Serie A round-up

Juventus were held by Fiorentina, while Treviso were relegated from Serie A.

Juventus came from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Fiorentina.

Fiorentina were gifted the chance to open the scoring on 16 minutes when Jonathan Zebina felled Luca Toni inside the box.

Luis Jimenez took responsibility from the spot, but his effort was saved by Juventus goalkeeper Christian Abbiati.

Martin Jorgensen went close to scoring for the visitors four minutes later when his shot came back off the post.

Fiorentina broke the deadlock two minutes after the break when Toni broke clear and fired the ball past Abbiati.

Juventus drew level just past the hour mark when Alessandro Del Piero collected a pass from Patrick Vieira and drilled a shot into the bottom corner.

Vieira almost won it for the home side when he headed against the crossbar, but Fiorentina held on for a point.

The draw leaves Juventus seven points clear at the top of the table, while Fiorentina remain in fifth spot.

Milan came from a goal down to defeat Chievo 4-1 at the Giuseppe Meazza, while Treviso's defeat at Messina confirmed their relegation back to Serie B.

Carlo Ancelotti's side looked to have suffered a bit of a UEFA Champions League hangover when Chievo took an early lead through Sergio Pellissier.

The Rossoneri restored parity on 28 minutes through Alessandro Nesta before Brazilian star Kaka struck a second half hat-trick to claim the points for the home side.

He scored Milan's winner on 62 minutes, struck a penalty for 3-1 eight minutes later before claiming his hat-trick in the dying stages.

The win takes Milan two points clear in second place.

Treviso will be playing Serie B football next season after a 3-1 defeat to fellow strugglers Messina in Sicily.

Sergio Floccari (13) gave Messina the lead before Treviso levelled a minute later through Dino Fava.

Giuseppe Sculli (70) gave Messina the lead for good and Arturo Di Napoli's strike two minutes later confirmed Treviso's relegation from the Italian top flight.

Roma's claims for the final Champions League place were boosted by an important 3-1 win over struggling Lecce.

Alessandro Mancini (20) gave the Giallorossi the lead from the penalty spot before Cristian Chivu doubled their advantage three minutes later.

Mancini got his second on 73 minutes before Lecce scored a late consolation marker through Gennaro Del Vecchio.

It was a good day for the Roman clubs all around after Lazio defeated Siena 3-2 in Tuscany.

Stefano Mauri (14) and Tommaso Rocchi (23) gave the Biancoceleste a two-goal lead before Siena pulled level with goals from Simone Vergassola (24) and Enrico Chiesa (40).

Ousmane Dabo proved Lazio's hero with the winner ten minutes after half time.

Palermo left it late to claim a dramatic 1-1 draw with Cagliari in Sardinia.

David Suazo's goal just before half time looked good enough for a vital win, but David Di Michele's strike deep into injury time at the end of the game meant a share of the spoils.

Parma defeated ten-man Reggina 4-0 at the Ennio Tardini, with goals from Marco Bresciano (12), Fabio Simplicio (34), Matteo Contini (65 penalty) and Daniele Dessena (79).

Reggina's Ivan Franceschini was sent off on 62 minutes for a second bookable offence.

Finally, Empoli boosted their chances of survival with a crucial 2-1 win over Sampdoria.

Antonio Busce (29, 49) made sure of the three points for Empoli, with Francesco Flachi's penalty (61) a mere consolation in the end for Samp.
