Serie A Round-up

Juventus continued their procession to the Serie A title by beating Livorno.

Juventus continued their procession to the Serie A title by beating Livorno, whilst Cagliari triumphed over Treviso to move away from the relegation zone.

Fabio Capello's Bianconeri are now a full 13 points clear of Milan after seeing off sixth-placed Livorno in a 3-1 win.

French striker David Trezeguet was on hand to score the opener after just three minutes, pouncing to fire home from the edge of the box after Pavel Nedved headed down a cross from Alessandro Del Piero.

A shock could have been on the cards when Livorno equalised on 53 minutes as Marc Pfertzel stole the ball off Giuliano Giannichedda and beat two men before arrowing a low shot past Gianluigi Buffon.

However any hopes of a Livorno success were dispelled almost immediately when Trezeguet picked up a Nedved through-ball and claimed his 20th league goal of the season.

Deep into injury time Del Piero added some gloss to the result with the third as Juve laid down the gauntlet to Milan who play Udinese on Sunday.

At the other end of the table bottom club Treviso's woes continued as a 2-1 win for Cagliari allowed Nedo Sonetti's side to pull four points clear of the drop zone.

The visitors went in front through Mauro Esposito after just 11 minutes, although Treviso drew level before the break when Walter Baseggio found the back of the net on 24 minutes.

David Suazo scored the crucial winner from the penalty spot after a foul by William Viali on 77 minutes, but Cagliari then saw Daniele Conti dismissed for two bookings.
