Fernando Couto has described his delight at seeing his career in Italy come full circle by returning to play for Parma.The Portuguese veteran completed his return to Stadio Ennio Tardini after nine years away on Wednesday, penning a one-year deal worth ‚é¼450,000.
Couto was a free agent after leaving Lazio and made the emotional decision to come back to Gialloblu after initially departing back in 1996.
The experienced defender is convinced that he still retains the necessary drive to compete in the demanding arena of Serie A.
"I'm happy to be here where I started my Italian adventure," said Couto.
"I know in a very good way the environment and I want to put myself at the coach's disposal to give again to this team an important role.
"The will is the same as a few years ago when we struggled for the title.
"Now there are other aims, it's true, but the enthusiasm and the guts are the same."
