Messina's Alessandro Parisi has set his sights on landing a place in the Italy squad.Parisi is preparing for his debut season in Serie A with promoted Messina, and is hoping to impress Italy coach Marcello Lippi (pictured).
"I hope to enter into the Italian squad," Parisi told Corriere dello Sport.
"Why I can't achieve that?
"For Messina it would also be fantastic. I'll have to play well in the league as Serie A is a stage that can launch your career.
"You can write it down now - Parisi aims for the national team."
The Sicilian side are hoping that Parisi will help them retain their Serie A status, but the player admits he would have welcomed a move during the summer.
Reports had suggested that he was interesting a number of Italy's big hitters, but no move materialised.
"I've never played in a big team. Juventus? Now that is all in the past. They haven't believed in me, otherwise they would have signed me.
"I've dreamt a lot about a big side. It hasn't arrived but it's good to stay here.
"I'll play in Serie A with Messina and I'll try to do good things. For me it will be a situation to exploit in the best way, then we will see."
