Bundesliga Round-up

Werder Bremen failed to boost their title challenge with a 0-0 draw at Stuttgart.

Werder Bremen missed a chance to close the gap on Die Bundesliga's runaway leaders Bayern Munich after only drawing 0-0 away at Stuttgart.

Defences were on top all evening at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion, and the result leaves Bayern eight points clear at the league summit.

Third placed Hamburg also spurned the opportunity to make up some ground, losing 2-1 at Hannover.

Darius Zaraw and Vahid Hashemian gave Hannover a 2-0 second half lead, and despite an 81st minute strike from Sergei Babarez, Hamburg could not avoid defeat.

Bayer Leverkusen produced the most impressive display of the evening during their 4-0 thrashing of Wolfsburg.

Dimitar Berbatov (pictured) opened the scoring at the BayArena just prior to half time. The flood gates opened after the break as Tranquillo Barnetta, Bernd Schneider and Ahmed Madouni all got on the scoresheet.

Schalke are in fourth place after a 0-0 draw at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Ioannis Amanatidis' 43rd minute strike gave Eintracht Frankfurt a valuable 1-0 win at FC Nurnberg.
