Borowski doubtful for England friendly

Another German midfielder is set to miss the England friendly with Tim Borowski the latest addition to the injury list. Borowski is extremely doubtful for the 22nd August Wembley friendly after picking up a knee injury on Saturday in Werder Bremen's 2-2 draw with Bochum in the opening game of the Bundesliga season. He is the third German midfielder out of the England game, joining team-mate Torsten Frings and Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack on the sidelines. A disappointed Borowski, 27, who has been capped 29-times, told AFP: "I fell heavily on the left knee while challenging for the ball. I finished the game, but I quickly noticed certain movements caused me pain."

Out

Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf added: "We think he'll be out for two to three weeks." Frings injured knee ligaments in a pre-season game last month and is not expected back until September, while Chelsea midfielder Ballack is recovering from an ankle operation.
