The Schalke striker is expected to retire from playing at the end of the season and Silkeborg have sounded out the former Danish international for a consultancy position.
"My hope is that we will have an agreement before the end of the year," Silkeborg chairman Kent Madsen told Tipsbladet.
"We have had a number of talks with Ebbe to discuss what Ebbe would like to do and how he can fit in at the club."
Sand is currently sidelined having picked up a facial injury in Schalke's 3-3 draw with Fenerbahce last week.
