PIZARRO WANTS SPANISH MOVE

WERDER BREMEN'S Claudio Pizarro has stated that he would prefer to play in Spain next season, because the German side have taken him as far as he can go.

Peruvian forward Pizarro, nicknamed the 'Bomber of the Andes' by Bremen fans, will have disappointed many at the club by his statement - especially after a season that has seen him emerge as one of the Bundesliga's best forwards.

"I am grateful to Werder Bremen for giving me the opportunity to play European football but now I should concentrate on improving my career," he declared.

"I am grateful to Bremen because they allowed me to grow professionally and I believe that I have fulfilled their expectations."

One club that may try to persuade the Peruvian to stay in Germany is Bayern Munich - with coach Ottmar Hitzfeld stating: "We still want Pizarro."
