Werder wrap up striker deal

Werder Bremen have completed the signing of Ajax striker Markus Rosenberg.

German Bundesliga leaders Werder Bremen have completed the signing of Ajax striker Markus Rosenberg.

The Dutch giants confirmed on Thursday that the two sides had reached an agreement on the transfer fee and that the 24-year-old Swedish international would be moving to the Weserstadion with immediate effect.

Roenberg has signed a deal which binds him to Werder until 2011 and the German giants are delighted to have landed the forward.

"Markus Rosenberg is quick, two-footed, good on the ball and strong in the air," said Bremen's sport director Klaus Allofs. "These qualities will give our game an added dimension.

"He wasn't first choice at Ajax, but we're convinced of his ability."

Klasnic is reportedly doing well after undergoing a kidney transplant on Thursday.

The Croatian international striker is expected to be out of action for up to eight weeks.
