Schafer nears Stuttgart move

Nurnberg keeper Raphael Schafer looks set to seal a summer move to Stuttgart.

Nurnberg keeper Raphael Schafer looks set to seal a summer move to Stuttgart, where he would replace the departing Germany international Timo Hildebrand.

Hildebrand had recently announced that he will leave the Swabians at the end of his contract in the summer, with Valencia and Sevilla believed to be favourites for his signature, and Stuttgart singled out Schafer as their number one transfer target for the new season.

Schafer confirmed that he had already agreed personal terms with Stuttgart and now hopes that Nurnberg are willing to let him go.

‚Ç£I feel honoured by Stuttgart's offer and now it is a matter of the two clubs to reach an agreement,‚Ç¥ declared the 27-year-old.

Nurnberg are reluctant to lose the former Lubeck keeper, but it is believed that an offer in the region of ‚é¼2.5 million might be too good to resist.
