Bayern Munich was left fuming after their trip to Monchengladbach's new Borussia-Park ended in a deserved 2-0 defeat and the sending off of World Cup winner Lucio.Second half goals by Marcelo Pletsch and substitute Joris Van Hout gave Gladbach's interim coach Horst Koppel a successful debut in charge of the Foals in front of a 53,500-capacity crowd.
However, most of the post-match reaction focused on the controversial sending off of Lucio, who appeared to have done nothing more than kick the ball away which was lying between the legs of Vaclav Sverkos.
‚Ç£The referee couldn't see anything, but his linesman who was some 80 yards away convinced him to show Lucio the red card, that's ridicules as it influenced the outcome of the game significantly,‚Ç¥ fumed Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
‚Ç£They were much livelier than us, we should have done more and kept better concentration - it was a luxury defeat."
Bayern coach Felix Magath was even more outraged at the incident.
‚Ç£Lucio kicked the ball, if that's not allowed anymore we better stop playing football at all,‚Ç¥ fumed Magath.
Former Dortmund boss Koppel, who had been Gladbach's Under-23 coach before the sacking of Holger Fach, failed to get carried away by the win.
‚Ç£The Foals started to gallop again," said Koppel.
"The team had to prove that they are able to perform better than they have done under Fach.
"We were the team which fought better, showed the superior enthusiasm and killed Bayern's game, as we did a tremendous amount of running.‚Ç¥
