Voller targets Europe

Rudi Voller says Bayer Leverkusen should be aiming for Europe.

Bayer Leverkusen sports director Rudi Voller believes his team should be aiming for Europe after thrashing Wolfsburg.

The former Germany coach was thrilled following their 4-0 success on Wednesday that saw the side move to within four points of a Uefa Cup berth.

"We should be able to grab a Uefa Cup spot with performances like this," Voller beamed.

Bayer coach Michael Skibbe opted to keep his feet on the ground after the win, but said he expected the season to pick up from now on.

"I hope the penny has dropped now. This game was a real signal to my players and I hope that they will now be ready to start an attack on the upper reaches of the table," he said.

Another reason to celebrate was the return of Jens Nowotny after he emerged off the bench following almost a year on the sidelines due to injury and legal wrangles.

Skibbe, however, was quick to point out that Nowotny would not be an automatic choice in his starting line-up.

"[Ahmed] Madouni has been playing well this season and so I don't see any reason to chop and change at the moment," he concluded.
