Lienen making changes

Ewald Lienen has started a massive squad overhaul at Hannover 96.

Lienen performed wonders in saving the club from relegation, after replacing Ralf Rangnick at the AWD-Arena earlier this year, and he is now looking to stamp his own mark on the club.

While experienced Polish defender Dariusz Zuraw has penned a new two-year contract and youngsters Gurman Agac and Sezai Demircan were given their first professional deals, the coach is showing the door to a clutch of players.

Former Liverpool and Everton defender Abel Xavier is expected to lead the exodus list which also includes reserve keeper Gerhard Tremmel, Thomas Schneider and Stanko Svitlica, while the future of Brazilian loan-signing Kleber remains unclear.

Lienen would like to keep the defender, who has settled well after a difficult start with the 96ers, but the club are unable to match Corinthians' asking price of ‚é¼3 million and have been told that the Brazilians are not interested in extending the loan move as they want to cash in on the three-times capped international.
