AZ march onwards

AZ Alkmaar edged nearer the next round of the Uefa Cup by beating Amica Wronki 3-1.

AZ Alkmaar edged nearer towards the next round of the Uefa Cup with a convincing 3-1 success at Amica Wronki.

The Dutch outfit are enjoying a superb season and only PSV Eindhoven sit above them in the domestic table.

They have also made a perfect start to their Group F campaign in the Uefa Cup as they made it two wins from two in Poland.

After a 2-0 triumph at home to Auxerre in their first game, AZ had little difficulty in building on that as they scored three goals before the interval.

Holland international Barry van Galen opened the scoring on 13 minutes before two goals in as many minutes put AZ firmly in control.

Martijn Meerdink netted on 37 minutes and two minutes later Stein Huysegems further tightened AZ's grip on the game.

Jacek Dembinski replied from the penalty spot for Amica on 59 minutes but it was insufficient to prevent a defeat which leaves the Polish minnows without a point after three fixtures.
