Ajax win on their travels

Ajax's upturn in form continued with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at RKC Waalwijk.

Ajax's upturn in form continued with a hard-fought 2-1 victory at RKC Waalwijk.

Ronald Koeman's side endured a difficult period earlier in the campaign but they have started to show signs of emerging from their slumber and the points secured at RKC on Friday moves them to within seven points of leaders PSV Eindhoven.

RKC had chances to take Ajax's scalp and they grabbed an early lead when Robert Fuchs netted following fine work from Michael Krohn-Dehli.

Ajax were level on 11 minutes when Wesley Sneijder fired home after good build-up play from Hatem Trabelsi.

Argentine forward Mauro Rosales has made a real impression this term and he netted the winner from close range shortly before the interval.

The win will be a special one for Ronald Koeman, as RKC are coached by his brother Erwin.
