Uefa Cup round-up: A-F

Steaua Bucharest defeated CSKA Sofia 4-3 on aggregate in the Uefa Cup.

Steaua Bucharest advanced to the next stage of the Uefa Cup after a 4-3 aggregate win over CSKA Sofia following a 2-2 second leg draw in Bulgaria.

Daniel Oprita gave the Romanian giants the lead after 14 minutes before Sorin Paraschiv doubled the visitors' lead with a second on 34 minutes.

That came came three minutes after CSKA missed a penalty through Velizar Dimitrov. The home side replied just before the break through Stoyko Sakaliev.

Emil Gargarov restored parity in the match with a quarter of an hour remaining, but Steaua held on to make the group stage of the competition.

Georgian club Dinamo Tbilisi are through after defeating Polish club Wisla Krakow on away goals after a 5-5 aggregate score following a 2-1 home win in the second leg.

Wisla had a 4-3 lead from the first leg and after a goalless first half, the visitors were reduced to ten men when Marcin Baszcyznski was sent off for foul and abusive language just before hour mark.

A minute later, Dinamo were level in the tie through a Georgi Nemsadze penalty before Mikheil Kakaladze put the Georgians in front on aggregate four minutes later.

Tomasz Frankowski pulled one back with 11 minutes left for ten-man Wisla, but the Poles were unable to score the necessary extra goal to overturn the tie and reach the group stage draw.

Basel went through 3-1 on aggregate against Chechen club Terek Grozny after a 2-0 home win in the second leg with goals from Julio Rossi and De Carvalho Kleber.

Feyenoord won 5-1 on aggregate against Odd Grenland with a 4-1 victory in the second leg. Pascal Bosschaart, Dirk Kuyt, Bart Goor and Salamon Kalou scored for the Dutch side. Canadian international Olivier Occean got the goal for Odd Grenland.

Auxerre beat Aab 2-0 on the night to go through 3-1 on aggregate. Bonaventure Kalou and Benjamin Mwaruwari scored for the French side.

Ukrainian club Dnipro are through after disposing of Israeli side Maccabi Haifa 2-1 on aggregate after a 2-0 second leg success.

After being a goal down from the first leg, Dmitri Mikhailenko brought Dnipro level nine minutes before the break.

They won the tie with nine minutes remaining when Andriy Rusol scored Dnipro's second and decisive goal to send the Eastern European side through.

Polish side Amica Wronki advanced after Jacek Dembinski's goal gave them a 1-0 win over Latvian club Ventspils for a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Partizan Belgrade earned a goalless draw in the second leg in Romania to defeat Dinamo Bucharest 3-1 on aggregate.

Besiktas beat Bodo/Glimt 2-1 on aggregate after Ibrahim Uzulmez scored the only goal in the second leg.

Zenit St Petersburg progressed with ease after a 6-1 aggregate victory at the expense of Crvena Zvezda.

It was 2-1 on the night with Alexander Spivak and Dmitri Makarov getting the goals for St Petersburg after Marko Pantelic had given Zvezda a first half lead.

Alemania Aachen won 5-1 on aggregate after a scoreless draw with FH Hafnarfjordur in the second leg.

AZ Alkmaar made sure of their place in the next round with a 2-1 win over PAOK Salonika for a 5-3 aggregate victory.

Salonika took the lead through Dimitrios Salpingidis, but Michael Buskermolen equalised a minute later for AZ. Joris Mathijsen scored the 72nd minute winner.

Djurgardens nearly completed mission impossible after coming back from a 4-0 first leg deficit to narrowly lose 4-3 on aggregate to Utrecht. A double from Tobias Hysen and a third minute strike from Andreas Johansson made the tie a contest.

Chateauroux went out to Club Brugge 6-1 on aggregate after a 2-1 home defeat in the second leg. Rune Lange and Ivan Gvozdenovic scored for Brugge whilst Kamel Chafni netted for the home side. 

AEK Athens got a last gasp winner to go through 1-0 on aggregate. Alexandres Soares got the 90th minute winner against Gorica.

Beveren beat Levski Sofia 1-0 to go through 2-1 on aggregate. Marco Ne scored on the stroke of half time to send his side through.

Benfica won 2-0 with goals from Zlatko Zahovic and Nuno Gomes for a 5-0 aggregate win over Dukla Banska Bistryka.
