Knee op for Babos

NEC Nijmegen keeper Gabor Babos is heading for knee surgery.

NEC Nijmegen will have to negotiate their way through the post-season Intertoto play-offs without keeper Gabor Babos.

NEC are eager to claim a place in Europe for next term and are keen to secure their passage to the Intertoto Cup through the play-offs.

Babos, though, will play no part in their efforts after opting to go under the knife to rectify a knee complaint.

The shot-stopper has been carrying the injury for some time and, with the possibility of coming back early for the Intertoto Cup, opted to head for surgery following the final game of the season.

Babos' recovery period is expected to take four to six weeks.

NEC, meanwhile, are eyeing Heracles Almelo defender Peter Reekers.

The 24-year-old is under contract at Almelo until 2007, but could be set for a move in the summer.
