Vitesse seal Hai deal

Vitesse Arnhem have been given the green light to field new Chinese signing Yu Hai.

Vitesse Arnhem have been given the green light to field new Chinese signing Yu Hai.

The Gelredome outfit moved for the 19-year-old in January, but were prevented from completing the deal due to a wrangle over a work permit.

Vitesse made their case to the government and were granted a permit for the striker.

"The procedure has been delayed a bit," Vitesse general director Paul van der Kraan told Omroep Gelderland.

"He has to go to the embassy in China to get his provisional residence permit and after that he can catch the plane to the Netherlands."

The Chinese teenager was handed a deal until 2009 after he impressed during a trial.

Vitesse, meanwhile, will be without midfielder Theo Janssen for the next six weeks after a scan confirmed meniscus damage in his left knee.

"Hopefully I can get back at the end of the season and I can play in the play-offs if we get there," said Janssen (pictured).

"It has been a disastrous season for me, first a hamstring injury, a suspension and now the knee."
