Terry: Feet back on the ground

John Terry believes England have been brought back down to earth after being held.

The Three Lions were expected to cruise home against Srecko Katanec's side at Old Trafford on Saturday.

However, things failed to go as planned as England were held to a goalless draw in their Euro 2008 qualifier.

"We've been brought down to earth a little bit," said Terry to Sky Sports News. "We said let's not get carried away and we've still got a lot to build on.

"Look at tonight's performance and we've certainly got to do that."

England keeper Paul Robinson believes Steve McClaren's men should not be chastised as they would have taken all three points had they simply taken one of their chances.

"We didn't ever look like losing the game without really threatening their goal too much," said the former Leeds shot-stopper.

"We had the chances to win the game and if we had put one or two of the chances away it would have been a different story, obviously.

"It's always going to be tough (in Croatia). They've not lost at home for a lot of years. Going there is always going to be a tough game.

"We'll go there full of optimism and hopefully put in a better performance than we did today."

Peter Crouch was one of England's main culprits in front of goal and the Liverpool ace is looking to get back on the scoring trail in the side's tricky-looking away trip to Croatia.

"Positively we've kept a clean sheet," he said. "I think going into the Croatia game we've got to take confidence from the previous games.

"It's always disappointing when you don't score, but hopefully going into the Croatia game I'll manage to do that."

Frank Lampard, who remains out of sorts at international level, knows England have a battle on their hands to qualify from Group E for Austria and Switzerland in two years' time.

"It's a difficult game. There are a lot of difficult games in this group. Make no mistake about that," explained Lampard.

"We can't underestimate Croatia, Russia or Israel. It's a big game for us."
