Jurgen happy with progress

Germany coach Jurgen Klinsmann is happy with how his side are shaping up.

Germany coach Jurgen Klinsmann has reinforced his belief that his team are amongst the best in the world.

Speaking in an interview with Die Welt, Klinsmann expressed his optimism with regard to the quality of his current squad.

"We don't have to hide behind anyone in Europe. We are one of the best six or eight teams in the world and still have the potential to improve," he said.

The former Tottenham and Bayern Munich star also admitted that the three-match Asia trip in December had helped him form the basis of the team which will represent Germany at the 2006 World Cup.

"I have a core of eight or nine players who know that they're number one choice," Klinsmann continued.

"We have a top midfield with Schneider, Frings and Ballack. Up front we have Kuranyi, Klose, Asamoah and the wing back positions are very well filled with Lahm and Hinkel."

Klinsmann also hinted that Bayern Munich midfielder Sebastian Deisler is likely to play a key role in the future when he recovers from his injury and off-field problems.

"We will give him all the time in the world," he said.
