Shakers keen to avoid coming unstuck against Cobblers

Bury will be hoping their recent fine run of form continues when they play host to Northampton. The Shakers have moved to within four points of the play-off places after taking three victories from their last four fixtures. The Cobblers will enter the game unbeaten in their last two, but suffered five consecutive setbacks prior to establishing some stability.

Bury team news

Bury boss Alan Knill will be without at least five players this weekend. Strikers Andy Bishop (groin), Andy Morrell (ankle) and Danny Carlton (Achilles) all remain sidelined through injury and will not feature. Shakers skipper Paul Scott will again miss out after a thigh injury sustained in training ruled him out of the past four games. Damien Allen also remains absent due to a groin strain and fellow midfielder Richie Baker limped off during Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Tranmere after picking up a knock. He is considered doubtful for this weekend's game but Brian Barry-Murphy, Ryan Lowe and Efe Sodje should all be restored to the starting line-up after being on the bench in midweek.
Northampton team news
Northampton will be without top scorer Ryan Gilligan as manager Ian Sampson takes charge of his first league game since being given the job on a full-time basis. Midfielder Gilligan scored his fifth goal of the season in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Bournemouth in midweek but also collected his fifth booking and serves a one-match ban. However ,Sampson is hopeful a trio of players who missed out on Tuesday night will be fit to play at Gigg Lane. Andy Holt (knee), Luke Guttridge (dead leg) and John Curtis (groin) are all back in training and could all start. Striker Adebayo Akinfenwa is also back in training after a knee problem and could be in the squad but defenders Dean Beckwith (groin) and Liam Davis (broken metatarsal) remain sidelined. Forward Billy McKay is available despite being called up to the Northern Ireland U21 squad for their European Championship qualifying match in Iceland on Tuesday afternoon. He will join up with the squad on Sunday morning.
