Blades boost with Howard return; Palace injury list continues

Sheffield United travel to Crystal Palace on the Championship's final day searching for a win which could clinch automatic promotion. The Blades will clinch automatic promotion if they win at Selhurst Park and Birmingham, who are currently third, fail to beat Reading. Meanwhile Crystal Palace head into the fixture on back of a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Doncaster Rovers.

Palace team news

The Eagles however will be without suspended defender Claude Davis, who is serving the last of his three match ban. Palace boss Neil Warnock, who has just extended his stay at Selhurst Park, will be no stranger to the travelling Blades faithful after managing United for seven years. The former Huddersfield Town boss could also be fielding former United man Anthony Stokes. Victor Moses returns from suspension but Palace are still without skipper and former Blades man Shaun Derry, who has a shoulder injury, and nippy winger Sean Scannell. John Oster and Paul Ifill are also both doubtful to feature for The Eagles.
Blades team news
United have been given a boost as Brian Howard is available again following his two-game ban. However the visitors will be without influential defender Gary Naysmith who has had ligament surgery on his knee. He joins Gary Speed, Ugo Ehiogu and Derek Geary on the long-term injury list but despite a few niggles in the United camp, Kevin Blackwell should have a full squad to choose from. The Blades were relegated from the Premier League in 2007, when a last-day defeat against Wigan combined with West Ham's win over Manchester United consigned them to the drop. A 90th-minute goal from Palace's Nick Carle secured a 2-2 draw when the two teams met in the reverse fixture at Bramall Lane in December.
