Exeter v Walsall preview

Team news ahead of Saturday's FA Cup first-round clash between Exeter and Walsall at St James' park.

The Grecians are sweating over the fitness of goalkeeper Artur Krysiak ahead of the home fixture. Krysiak was forced off during the 0-0 draw with Carlisle last weekend with a thigh injury and is unlikely to recover in time to face the Saddlers. Lenny Pidgeley will deputise should the Pole not be fit. Midfielder Matt Oakley picked up an almost identical thigh injury to Krysiak against the Cumbrians and will not feature for Paul Tisdale's side, while forward Jake Taylor is away with Wales Under-21s. Striker Guillem Bauza's hamstring complaint continues to keep the Spaniard sidelined and full-back Billy Jones has also been ruled out of the contest with a fractured toe. Defender Richard Duffy is fit after an ankle problem, however, and will be included in the matchday squad. Jimmy Walker returns into contention to compete with David Grof for the goalkeeper's jersey ahead the trip. Walker missed last weekend's excellent 1-1 draw at Huddersfield due to a one-match suspension and faces a tough task dislodging Grof following his superb display at the Galpharm Stadium. Manager Dean Smith has no new injury or suspensions problems to contend with but remains without midfielder Kevan Hurst (broken foot) and defender Darryl Westlake (ankle). Midfielder Adam Chambers will be assessed as late as possible as he bids to make his return from a thigh injury. The Saddlers are looking to progress into the second round for the third successive season but will be wary of the threat Exeter pose having lost 2-1 when the two sides met in the league just over two weeks ago.
