Gibraltar v Scotland: Gordon Strachan's side bring end to disappointing campaign

Scotland will head to Gibraltar on Sunday night knowing they can no longer qualify for Euro 2016, but hoping to still end their campaign on a high.

Gordon Strachan's side's chances of making it to France next summer ended on Thursday night thanks to Robert Lewandowski's last-minute equaliser for Poland at Hampden Park, while play-off rivals Republic of Ireland recorded a shock victory over Germany.

Three points should be all but guaranteed against Group D whipping boys Gibraltar, who have conceded a whopping 50 goals so far in their first ever European qualification campaign.

But Scotland will still want to end their campaign with a flourish, before turning their attentions to try and qualify for the 2018 World Cup, by which point it will have been 20 years since they last made it to a major tournament.

    Team news

Leigh Griffiths, James McArthur, James Morrison, Charlie Mulgrew and Jordan Rhodes will all miss the dead rubber in Faro.

Griffiths, Rhodes and McArthur were all on the bench for the home draw with Poland that left the Scots unable to qualify for the finals, with McArthur coming on for the final 16 minutes.

    More from European Qualifiers

Mulgrew missed that game with a thigh injury, while Morrison was suspended and carrying a knock from West Brom's defeat at Crystal Palace.

Gibraltar have no fresh injury concerns following their 4-0 defeat by Georgia on Thursday.

    Opta stats

Gibraltar scored their first ever competitive goal in their 6-1 defeat to Scotland at Hampden Park in March.

After four wins in their first six away games under Gordon Strachan, Scotland are without a win in four on the road (D2 L2).

Gibraltar have lost their last four home internationals, scoring none and conceding 21.

Scotland's last victory in the European Championship qualifiers came against Gibraltar back in March 2015 (D2 L2).

Gibraltar have conceded 50 goals in the European Championship Qualifiers, more than any other side in the competition.

Scotland's previous win against Gibraltar was their biggest victory in all competitions since beating Faroe Islands 6-0 in September 2006.

    Sky Bet

Scotland are just 1/50 with Sky Bet to sign off with a victory at Gibraltar, with their hosts up against odds off 33/1 to win and 16/1 just to secure a draw. Scottish strikers naturally dominate the first goalscorer market, while Steven Naismith is enhanced from 7/2 to 4/1 to score first in Sky Bet's Price Boosts.
