McIlroy likely to field new-look side in season opener

Morecambe could hand debuts to four players when they host Hereford at Christie Park on Saturday. Defenders Darren Moss and Laurence Wilson are set to feature alongside the on-loan Huddersfield pair of midfielder Ian Craney and striker Phil Jevons. Elsewhere, skipper Jim Bentley is set to miss out with a shoulder injury while Wayne Curtis (knee) and Garry Hunter (groin) are also ruled out after missing the pre-season. Craig Stanley is set for a return against his former club after missing the second half of last season with a foot injury. Boss Sammy McIlroy said: "We are fitter than we were at this stage last season and have a more settled squad, and players like Ian Craney and Phil Jevons will definitely add quality to the side."

Hereford news

Bulls boss John Trewick has a fully-fit squad to choose from. Trewick has revamped the Bulls set-up over the summer, with only a handful of the side from last season's relegation campaign still at Edgar Street. Lee Morris and Leon Constantine are the club's only two recognised senior strikers and are expected to lead the line, although Trewick is keen to bring in reinforcements before the August 31 deadline. Adam Bartlett should make his competitive debut in goal following his summer move from Kidderminster, and it will be the same story for a host of other summer signings as a new-look Hereford side takes to the pitch at Christie Park. Winger Jonny Godsmark penned a six-month loan deal on Thursday and he is also included in an experienced squad that has travelled to Lancashire.
