Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari insists winger Florent Malouda has a future at Stamford Bridge.

Scolari won't 'waste' French winger

Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari insists winger Florent Malouda has a future at Stamford Bridge. The French international arrived in England in a £13.5million move from Lyon last July and was expected to take the Premier League by storm. However, Malouda - signed by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho - struggled with a knee injury and a lack of form has seen him linked with a move to Roma. Scolari, though, who took over at the club this summer, has now said that Malouda was wasted by previous managers Mourinho and Avram Grant and that he is willing to give the 28-year-old a chance to impress. "I want to know if he stays with us, what is his best position," said Scolari. "Last season he played in a different position than he did at Lyon. I want him to play on the wing like he did in Lyon. He was wasted last season." Malouda's agent recently announced the player is happy in England, but Roma boss Luciano Spalletti is still expected to table an offer before the start of the season.
