Sergio Aguero hopes to develop his understanding with Kevin De Bruyne further when he returns to action for Manchester City.

The Argentina international has been encouraged by the early impact he and the Belgian midfielder have made together.

While Aguero has eight goals to his credit this season, De Bruyne has scored six times since his move from Wolfsburg in August.

The first hint of a strong alliance between the two came at the start of October when De Bruyne assisted for two of Aguero's five goals in a 6-1 victory over Newcastle United.

Former Atletico Madrid forward Ageuro has been out with a hamstring in recent weeks and has seen his team-mate impress in his absence.

He told mcfc.co.uk: "I'm really happy because I think the club did a great piece of business bringing Kevin in. You are always happy when a quality player arrives and he is certainly that.

"The few chances I've had to play alongside him have been encouraging because we started to get an understanding of how each other plays.

"He is a great player and it's really important he settles in and shows us what he can do. He's also a great lad off the field as well so I'm looking forward to playing alongside him again."

Nicolas Otamendi is another player who has made his presence felt after a shaky start to his City career.

The defender produced a man-of-the-match display in the 0-0 derby draw with Manchester United last month and Aguero has heaped praise on his countryman.

He added: "Nico is a good player who will help our team and the more Argentinians the better as far as I'm concerned.

"We need a big squad because we've got lots of games and many competitions we're trying to win and all the players we've brought in over the summer have made us stronger."
