Everton manager Roberto Martinez has said he may allow Darron Gibson and Aiden McGeady to leave the club during the transfer window.

The Republic of Ireland internationals have struggled to break into the first team this season and Martinez admits they need more action with a view to playing in Euro 2016 this summer.

The duo will hope to feature in Martin O'Neill's squad for the tournament in France and Martinez accepts they will need to be given opportunities to impress either with Everton or one of their suitors.

"We have had a lot of interest in Darron Gibson and Aiden McGeady and we need to sit down and consider what is the next step," said Martinez, who could let them depart Goodison Park either permanently or on loan.

"It has been disappointing for them not to have enough minutes on the pitch and they need to be playing until the end of the season due to the opportunity of playing for Ireland in the Euros.

"They deserve to have special attention at this stage of the season. They haven't played enough and now is a good opportunity to see if the second half of the season can be a good one."
