Northampton have signed former Oxford midfielder Danny Rose on a deal until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old left the Kassam Stadium on Monday afternoon after making more than 100 appearances across two spells with the U's.

"Even though Danny is a player I know well, he wasn't really on our radar when we started the transfer window as we never thought Oxford would allow him to come to us, but when he came to aN agreement with Oxford to become a free agent it opened the door for us," manager Chris Wilder told the club's official website.

"He is a very good player who has been involved in promotion-winning sides so he knows what it takes and we know he will fit in well here.

"He also knows what we are about and what we are doing now at Northampton Town, so once the move became a possibility Danny was keen to come."
