Leicester sign Nampalys Mendy from Nice on four-year deal

Leicester have continued to strengthen their squad for the new season with the signing of midfielder Nampalys Mendy from Nice.

The 24-year-old has agreed a four-year contract with the Foxes subject to Premier League and FA approval.

Mendy is the third player to sign for Leicester this summer after the recent arrivals of Ron-Robert Zieler and Luis Hernandez.

And the Frenchman, who has won caps at youth, U20 and U21 levels for his country played for Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri when both were at Monaco.

"I am very happy to come to Leicester City. The team have just enjoyed a great season and it's excellent to be here," Mendy said.

"For me I want to play at this level. I like the Premier League and I follow every match. It's fast and physical and I want to impose myself on the league.

"I know the coach, I know his mentality and I know his philosophy. When he speaks it's direct and clear and for me I like this."

Mendy began his career at AS Monaco, playing a key role as thee the club clinched promotion to Ligue 1 under Ranieri during the 2012/13 campaign.

He moved to Nice as a free agent that summer and went on to play 200 times for the team over the following three seasons.
