Portsmouth have completed the signings of Adam Buxton and Noel Hunt ahead of the new Sky Bet League Two campaign.

Full-back Buxton, who joins from Accrington, and striker Hunt, who featured for the Blues in pre-season following his release from Southend, have penned one-year deals at the club.

Buxton, having turned down a new contract at Stanley, told the club's official website: "I'm happy to have signed for such a massive club - it feels like we're only going to go in one direction.

"Hopefully I can help the lads get out of this division and back to where everyone wants to be.

"The fan-base here speaks for itself - it's the best in the league and only Sheffield United from the one above are on a par with Pompey."

Meanwhile, former Republic of Ireland international Hunt admitted that he turned down offers from other clubs to join Paul Cook's side.

The 33-year-old ex-Reading and Leeds player said: "This is a fantastic club. They have a great reputation and manager, so it was a no-brainer for me.

"The gaffer wanted me to come down here and see what a professional standard it is. It's a really high quality.

"I've turned down a few clubs from higher leagues because I felt that this was the right one for me.

"This is a club with plenty of ambition and I spoke to friends of mine who have played here before - like Andy Griffin, Jason Pearce and David Norris - and speak very highly about the place."
