Andrew Wright has become Scunthorpe United's second signing of the January transfer window.

Former Liverpool trainee arrives from the States

Andrew Wright has become Scunthorpe United's second signing of the January transfer window. The midfielder joins from West Virginia University in America, but was a trainee with Liverpool before moving to the States. Wright has just completed a degree in physical education at the university and was called up the College Men's MVP side last week. He scored 18 goals in 83 appearances for the student side but is now hopeful of realising his dream of turning professional.

Extension

Wright played for Scunthorpe's reserve side during a trial two weeks ago and impressed enough to persuade Nigel Adkins to offer him a deal. The midfielder has signed on at Glanford Park until the end of the season, but the club have the option of extending that by a further year if he proves his worth. He joins Mamadou Seck in joining the club during the transfer window.
Williams let off
The Iron have also had Marcus Williams' red card successfully overturned after the defender was dismissed during the 5-0 defeat to West Brom last Saturday. As a result he will no longer have to serve a one-match ban.
