AZ Alkmaar have won the race to sign Holland Under-21 international Charlison Benschop from RKC Waalwijk.

Promising youngster set to join AZ at the end of the season

Dutch Eredivise side AZ Alkmaar have won the race to sign Holland Under-21 international Charlison Benschop from RKC Waalwijk. The 20-year-old has agreed a five-year deal and will join AZ at the end of the season after being linked with a number of top Dutch clubs. Director of football at AZ, Marcel Brands, said: "Charlison Benschop had caught the eye of several Eredivisie clubs. He is a big and physically strong player with great skill. "He is one of the most talented players in his age group. "We feel he is ready for the next step in his career and he may very well develop into a top striker." Benschop has scored five goals for RKC this season and notched on his international debut for the Holland Under-21s in a recent friendly against Slovenia.
