Argentine full-back poised to make French switch

Ligue 1 outfit Nice have lodged a bid to bring in Boca Juniors full-back Luciano Monzon on loan. The Argentina international has prior experience of life in European football having taken in a spell at Real Betis in 2008/09. Now 23, he is more experienced and ready to return for a second stint, and Nice hope they can add him to their ranks over the coming weeks, with an offer already put to Boca. The plan is to bring Monzon in on an initial six-month deal, with the option for a further year after that.

Waiting

The French side are confident they will get their man, with chairman Patrick Governatori claiming the player has already informed him of his desire to make a move. "We have sent an offer of €380,000 (£324,000) for a six-month loan and a possible year after that," he said. "We are now waiting on an answer from the Argentinian club. "The player has already agreed to a transfer."
