Former Rennes midfielder set to resumer his career after injury

St Etienne have announced the signing of Fabien Lemoine on a four-year deal from Rennes for an undisclosed fee. Lemoine, 24, missed five months of last season through injury following a nasty collision during a match against Nancy. It was later revealed he had badly damaged his kidney in the incident, which meant it had to be removed. The defensive midfielder has become St Etienne's seventh signing of the summer as they look to build a squad capable of bringing them their first Ligue 1 title since 1981. St Etienne began their season with a win over Bordeaux last weekend but will face stiff competition from free-spending Paris Saint Germain for the title. Lemoine will miss this weekend's match with Nancy, as he still serving a suspension.
