Terrors sign new goalkeeper with Dusan Pernis set to leave

Dundee United have secured the services of Polish goalkeeper Radoslav Cierzniak on a two-year pre-contract deal. The 28-year-old was awarded the deal after impressing boss Peter Houston on trial and will have the option of a further year when the initial contract expires. Cierzniak is due to join the club in the summer when current No.1 Dusan Pernis is expected to leave the club. The Poland international claimed his only cap to date against Lithuania in 2009 while most recently plying his trade with Cypriot side Alki Larnaca and Houston is delighted to capture the goalkeeper.

Comfortable

"I liked what I saw of Radoslav during his time at the club and goalkeeping coach Steve Banks worked very closely with him for a week," he said. "Steve liked what he saw and confirmed he has all the attributes you look for in a goalkeeper. He showed good hands, he was comfortable with the ball at his feet, proved to be a strong communicator and above all looks an excellent shot-stopper. "It is our belief that he will be a great success here at United and someone out fans will warm to immediately. "This signing will again show supporters that we are continually trying to look to the future and enhance our squad at all times."
