Villarreal boss Marcelino Garcia Toral is optimistic that Premier League target Mateo Musacchio will stay at the club.
Reports emerged earlier this month that Tottenham Hotspur were in talks over a move for the defender, while there is also rumoured to be interest from another Spanish club.
Garcia Toral is keen for the matter to be resolved in the next few days and admits that he cannot say for certain that Musacchio will remain at Villarreal.
But Garcia Toral is hopeful that the 23-year-old, who has been at Villarreal since 2009, will not push for a move.
He said: “We expect a definitive solution for this week.
“I believe that Musacchio will stay with us but I cannot confirm this 100 per cent."
