Hibernian's revival during September has seen Alan Stubbs and Jason Cummings pick up top SPFL monthly awards.

Stubbs was voted the Championship Manager of the Month after leading his side to two wins from three matches, including the impressive 3-1 victory over League One champions Rangers at Ibrox.

And striker Cummings, who scored twice in that match, has been named SPFL Young Player of the Month, an award which covers all four divisions in Scotland.

Hibernian, who have climbed to fifth in the table, also defeated Cowdenbeath 3-2 at the start of the month with 19-year-old Cummings scoring the injury-time winner.

During the period, Hibs also progressed to the last eight of the Scottish League Cup following a 2-0 victory at Premiership side Ross County.

“It’s obviously nice to get awards, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like getting an award, but from my point of view this is for my players and my staff," the former Celtic and Everton defender said in the Edinburgh Evening News.

"I was a bit surprised when I got told, but I don’t decide who picks the award, I think you should ask those people rather than me.

“You don’t get the award from not getting results. I just look at going to Ibrox and Ross County and winning, that is a big reason why Jason and myself have got these awards.”

The SPFL’s monthly awards are held in conjunction with the Scottish Football Writers’ Association, with the winners voted for by members of the Scottish media.

Also included on the voting panel this month was one lucky football fan - Falkirk supporter Craig Cruickshanks - who won the SPFL's Facebook competition to take part in the process, with the additional prize of presenting an award to some of the winners.
