Leon Clarke has been taken to hospital for scans after he was stretchered off during Wigan’s defeat to Charlton at the DW Stadium.

The on-loan Wolves striker was injured during the first-half of the 3-0 loss and following a lengthy delay was carried off wearing a neck brace.

Wigan had already been forced into an early replacement after William Kvist limped off with a hamstring problem and Clarke was to add to the Latics injury concerns.

"Leon Clarke has suffered a neck/shoulder injury and has been taken to hospital to be assessed,” said Wigan manager Malkay Makay.

"William Kvist came off with a hamstring injury and was taken off as a precaution."

Clarke joined the Latics on loan until the end of the season on transfer deadline day after falling out of favour at Molineux.
