Barcelona midfielder Xavi had an emotional farewell as the club paid special tribute to a man who has spent 17 years with the club.
The Spain international is leaving to join Qatari side Al Sadd at the end of the season, with Saturday’s Champions League final against Juventus set to be his last appearance in the famous shirt.
The occasion proved too much for Xavi, who couldn’t hold back the tears as team-mate Andres Iniesta gave a speech.
Xavi then thanked the fans himself, and the club’s most decorated player said he wants to go out on a high.
“Before I leave, I hope to lift one more trophy this weekend in Berlin,” he said.
“I hope this is not goodbye, but ‘see you soon’.”
