Preston youngsters Josh Heaton and Steven James have signed new one-year contracts.
Defender Heaton has put pen to paper on his first pro deal while goalkeeper James has been handed another year after impressing on loan at various non-league clubs.
Manager Simon Grayson said: "It is great to have both Josh and Steven on board for the forthcoming season.
"Josh did exceptionally well (on loan) at Tamworth where he experienced what is was like to play men's football for the first time and came through that challenge with flying colours.
"As for Steven, he has made progress since the day I arrived at the club and he thoroughly deserves the chance to progress again with us."
