Queens Park Rangers are closing on Wigan defender James Perch after both clubs agreed a fee, according to Sky sources.

The 29-year-old has been with Wigan for two years since moving from Newcastle for £750,000.

QPR boss Chris Ramsey will be desperate to shore up his defence after his side dropped from the top flight in May to the Sky Bet Championship.

Perch is a player than can comfortably fit in at right-back but can also utitlise his talents across the back line and also as a defensive midfielder.

He began his career at Nottingham Forest in 2003 before moving on to Newcastle seven years later. He then headed off to Wigan in the summer of 2013 for a £750,000 fee.
