MK Dons have secured the services of former England centre-half Matthew Upson on a one-year deal.
The centre-half spent last season with Leicester but was released at the end of the season and joins the Championship newcomers for nothing.
"I’m very pleased to be here and I’m excited about the new challenge," the 36-year-old told the club website.
"This is a club that has grown in stature and I see it as an exciting place to be. Me and the gaffer have been chatting a lot about the style of football the team play and it’s something I feel I’ll fit into well.
"The experience I bring with me is something I’d like to think can help too."
Manager Karl Robinson added: "We’ve got ourselves an experienced defender who has played in the World Cup and the Premier League. I think having good leaders around the place is important.
"It’s a unique one in terms of the mould of player we would usually go for but sometimes they are there to be broken if it’s the right type of player. We are really excited about the experience he can bring. He’s also a calming influence and a good character."
