Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker believes their 3-0 win over Manchester United will give them a huge boost ahead of their back-to-back Champions League games with Bayern Munich.
A 3-2 defeat against Olympiakos at the Emirates leaves them bottom of Group F but they bounced back to comfortably defeat United on Sunday.
Arsenal travel to Watford for the Sky Live clash after the international break before Arsene Wenger prepares his side for the first of their two European fixtures against Bayern.
The Bundesliga champions have been in impressive form, winning all eight of their league games to date, as well as recording a 5-0 drubbing of Dinamo Zagreb in their last Champions League outing.
But Germany World Cup winner Mertesacker believes the commanding manner of their victory over United will help them cope with the challenge of Bayern.
"We are pleased that we have [won] after the Champions League debacle, and you could see how much the team wanted to respond," he said.
"As a team you try and remind yourself of what you can achieve and you could see that we have a lot of confidence. I hope that we can display that again in two weeks.
"[Their strength] is pretty clear and is evidence of how dominant Bayern are and what a great team they have.
"We will still play them twice. We have to play a very, very good opponent and I am curious.
"We can look forward to playing against a team like that."
Meanwhile, Arsenal have confirmed 19-year-old forward Alex Iwobi has signed a new long-term contract with the club.
