Olivier Giroud produced a man of the match performance to help Arsenal seal a 2-1 win over Everton

"He did exactly what the game was asking him to do - when he needed to slow it down, he did, when he needed to press forward, he did," Henry told Sky Sports' Saturday Night Football after watching Arsenal beat Everton 2-1 at Emirates Stadium.

"He is an amazing player, a World Cup winner, and you have to give him credit because I think this year he has woken up. Sometimes you have to say when it is bad, it is bad. At the moment he is on point, and it's not a coincidence that Arsenal are top of the league as it stands."

Olivier Giroud opened the scoring 10 minutes before half-time, heading home a perfectly weighted cross from Ozil.

Laurent Koscielny doubled the Gunners' advantage before a deflected Ross Barkley effort pulled a goal back for Everton. Arsenal held on for the three points that sends them top of the Premier League, although second-placed Manchester City play their game in hand on Sunday against Manchester United.

In the Saturday Night Football studio, Sky Sports football expert Jamie Redknapp also paid tribute to Ozil's "exceptional" performance.

"He's in such great form," said Redknapp. "He looked hungry. That's what the questions have been about - does he want it enough? Does he care? But he was exceptional today."
