Brechin City goalkeeper Graeme Smith had a day to forget when he turned up at the wrong ground for their clash with Stenhousemuir.

The former Rangers stopper arrived at Stenhousemuir's Ochilview ground only to find his team was actually playing at home - over 80 miles away back at Glebe Park.

Smith admitted he felt "uneasy" when he turned up in the changing room and no-one was there, so he phoned the wife.

Thankfully he did make it back across to Angus and took his place in the starting line-up for the Scottish League One clash.

"I put my bag in the dressing room and thought it was strange," the 32-year-old said.

"The kit man is usually sharp arriving and hanging the strips up. I was going to watch the Man United match but a sudden uneasiness came over me, so I phoned the wife.

"I couldn't believe it when she said it was at the Glebe."

Smith's mistake was broadcast to the world via social media by Stenhousemuir's head of community football William Hoggan.

He tweeted: "Brechin City keeper Graeme Smith rocks up to @OchilviewPark @StenhousemuirFC today but their the home team. Ha ha classic."
