Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham says action needs to be taken against Hibernian supporters after he was forced to flee crowd trouble at the end of the Scottish Cup final.

The Ibrox stopper was among several Gers players targeted when thousands of Hibs fans flooded onto the Hampden Park pitch following their team's 3-2 triumph on Saturday.

Hibernian head coach Alan Stubbs described the scenes of the pitch invasion at Hampden Park as regrettable and said they'll await the formal investigation

The Rangers squad were prevented from speaking to the media in the aftermath of Saturday's final but Foderingham took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to share his thoughts.

He posted: "Still getting over the disappointment of Saturday! A bad end to what has been a great season for the club. We go again in four weeks.

"Massive thank you for the outstanding support this season... It has been a pleasure to play in front of such special fans this year.

"As for the disgraceful scenes after the game I for one think action must be taken! No player should have to evade attack on the pitch."

Rangers released a strongly worded statement, hitting out at the Scottish FA, Hibernian and First Minister Nicola Sturgeon for failing to condemn Hibs

Hibernian chairman Rod Petrie has condemned the acts of violence while the Scottish Football Association has launched an independent commission to investigate why security measures were so easily overcome.

Police Scotland have so far made 11 arrests but have now set up a "full criminal investigation" as the hunt begins to find those responsible.
