Burnley have completed the signing of Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan on a season-long loan deal.

Having risen through the ranks at Liverpool the 23-year-old full back has been plagued with a series of serious injuries and made just 11 first team appearances in the 2015/16 campaign, scoring on the last day of the season.

Flanagan missed the whole of the 2014/15 season through injury but was a regular feature in the Liverpool team who finished 2nd in 2014 and was referred to as Liverpool's "new Carragher" by former team-mate Luis Suarez.

He then made his first team debut at Anfield in November 2011 as an 18-year-old as Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-0. The home-grown right back then grabbed his first goal for the club in spectacular fashion as he lashed home a scissor kick in a 5-0 win against Spurs at White Hart Lane.

Having signed a long-term deal in March it would appear he is a part of Jurgen Klopp's plans at the club and this move may well be his chance to prove his fitness following such a long absence.
