Quincy Amarikwa and Simon Dawkins scored as San Jose Earthquakes claimed their first away win of the MLS season with a 2-0 at Vancouver Whitecaps.
Amarikwa's 14th-minute header opened the scoring on Friday night at BC Place before Dawkins doubled the advantage on the hour with a well-struck left-footed effort.
Nicolas Mezquida grabbed a late consolation for Vancouver in stoppage time as their bid to grab salavage a point in front of an expectant home crowd fell short.
The results moves San Jose up to 31 points in the Western Conference standings and sees them leapfrog Vancouver into seventh place.
The Earthquakes stand just a point behind sixth-placed Portland Timbers who currently occupy the final play-off position.
Vancouver, meanwhile, have 30 points from their 25 MLS games this term.
