Premier League grades: Stuart Pearce gives his verdict

Jermain Defoe celebrates his goal with team-mate Victor Anichebe

Stuart Pearce has graded every Premier League performance from the weekend's action - so how did your side get on?

There were big wins for Sunderland and Bournemouth, while Chelsea went top of the table with a narrow victory over Middlesbrough on Super Sunday.

We asked former England international Pearce to run the rule over each of the nine games, with West Brom against Burnley to come on Monday Night Football.

Live Monday Night Football

Premier League results

Man Utd 1-1 Arsenal Watford 2-1 Leicester
Everton 1-1 Swansea Southampton 0-0 Liverpool
Sunderland 3-0 Hull Crystal Palace 1-2 Man City
Stoke 0-1 Bournemouth Tottenham 3-2 West Ham
Middlesbrough 0-1 Chelsea

Here is what he had to say...

Sunderland - A

It absolutely has to be an A for Sunderland. What a great result and a great performance to back up the victory over Bournemouth.

It's not a win over one of the bigger teams in the league, but it's so important to do well in these six-pointers.

It's three goals, a clean sheet and number 150 for Jermain Defoe - it ticks all the boxes for David Moyes.

Sunderland 3-0 Hull

Bournemouth - A

A wonderful performance from Bournemouth, going to a Stoke team that had hit a bit of form and taking three points.

Keeping clean sheets is really important for them too - that's their fourth of the season in the league - so it's another bonus for Eddie Howe.

Stoke 0-1 Bournemouth

Chelsea - A-

Fantastic from Chelsea, who are on a real roll now.

They found consistency in their formation and it's translated into consistency in performance.

Everything about them looks good at the moment, and to win away from home after the international break is impressive.

Middlesbrough 0 - 1 Chelsea

Watford - B+

A good result against Leicester City, even though the defending champions are really struggling away from home.

The two early goals gave them a platform, and to their credit they looked solid after Riyad Mahrez cut the deficit from the penalty spot.

Watford 2-1 Leicester

Manchester United - B

They played well enough to win the game at Old Trafford and will feel they deserved the victory on the balance of chances.

But they didn't get it and as Jose Mourinho said, the last-minute equaliser means it feels like a defeat.

When big teams go head to head, though, neither is too upset with a draw.

Should Man Utd have had a penalty against Arsenal?

Tottenham - B

Spurs were off it for large parts of the game but they never gave up and were rewarded handsomely at the end.

London derbies can be awkward occasions, so Mauricio Pochettino will be thrilled with his side's response.

Harry Winks’ emotional celebration against West Ham

Arsenal - B

They didn't play brilliantly but before the game they would have been happy with a point at Old Trafford.

It keeps their unbeaten run going - it's up to 17 matches now - and I think it's a B overall.

Man Utd 1-1 Arsenal

Swansea - B

It's a good result on the road, even if they may be disappointed not to have picked up three points.

Things have been tough for Swansea recently, so taking it all into account, a point away from the Liberty sets them up nicely, and they need to back it up at home to Crystal Palace next weekend.

Everton 1-1 Swansea

Manchester City - B

They weren't at their fluent best and relied very much on the brilliance of Raheem Sterling.

He was the outstanding performer at Selhurst Park, tormenting Martin Kelly, who was playing slightly out of position at left-back.

Sterling was the one who forced the errors from the Palace defence.

Crystal Palace 1-2 Man City

Southampton - B

They didn't offer too much in attack, but Southampton will be very pleased with a clean sheet against the form side in the Premier League.

That's a huge positive for them and, with a big Europa League game on Thursday, they will probably take the draw.

Southampton 0-0 Liverpool

Liverpool - B

Liverpool will be disappointed not to have won considering the chances they created - Roberto Firmino's was a big miss - but a clean sheet on the road is solid.

St Mary's is not an easy place to go.

Roberto Firmino’s costly miss against Southampton

West Ham - C+

West Ham played fairly well at White Hart Lane, so from a performance point of view there's positives for Slaven Bilic.

He will be feeling sick after that ending, though, because the mad final few minutes colours the whole thing.

I can't give them higher than a C+ after the way they finished the match.

Tottenham 3-2 West Ham

Middlesbrough - C

Boro played reasonably well against Chelsea. They were always second best but did well to hang in there and at 1-0 they had a chance of snatching a point.

It's very difficult to play against Antonio Conte's side at the moment, though, so I can't be too critical.

Crystal Palace - C

I was at this game, and while they didn't play too badly, Palace always looked very shaky at the back.

Kelly at left-back struggled to deal with Sterling all game and he was partly responsible for both goals.

Palace weren't awful, but five defeats in a row tells its own story.

Leicester City - C-

They would have been hoping to get points on the road after a disappointing defeat to West Brom at the King Power last time out, but they are finding it difficult to get anything on their travels.

They seem to have a mental block away from home this season, leaving Claudio Ranieri to worry himself with relegation fears.

Stoke - C-

I thought this was a banker for Stoke.

It's a bad result and it seems like every time you think Mark Hughes' side are about to string some results together, they slip up again.

Stoke probably hope to finish a few places above the Cherries in the league at the end of the campaign, so to lose to them at home is disappointing.

Everton - D

It's a very poor result from Everton's point of view because I had them down as nailed on to beat a struggling Swansea.

The only saving grace is they managed to salvage a point from the game. All in all, though, not good for Ronald Koeman.

Hull City - D-

A bad, bad defeat for Hull. Whenever you play anyone around you in the league, you can't afford to lose.

They were well beaten too, shipping three goals to a relegation rival.
